Varna Airport

9154 Varna, Bulgaria.

Varna Airport is the closest airport to our wedding venue. Once you have made travel plans we can advise on transfers etc. though it is quick and cheap to get to the city centre from Varna airport. Typically a taxi from Varna airport to Varna’s hotels will cost 7-10 Euro. Transfers to the Thracian Cliffs and BlackSeaRama are more expensive (around 60 Euro and need to be arranged in advance)..

Travelling from the UK:

From London it is possible to make it to the wedding by flying on Friday night, or very early Saturday morning, and to return Sunday, with direct flights from Wizz Air (Luton).

Flight prices are currently reasonable but will rise.

Easyjet also flies to Varna (from Gatwick) but only on Tuesday, Wednesday and Saturday (unfortunately arriving too late for the wedding).

Some charter flights may also become available and check search engines like Skyscanner for other flight options with connections, including Bulgaria Air (changing planes in Sofia), Turkish Airlines (via Istanbul), Austrian Airlines (via Vienna) etc.

Travelling from Germany:

EasyJet flies directly from Berlin-Schönefeld to Varna, but only on Wednesdays and Saturdays (and unfortunately too late for the wedding), which means extending your stay and spending a week in Bulgaria.

Some tour operator like TUIfly or schauinsland-reisen offer direct flights from Berlin to Varna, but usually these options are less flexible with the dates. Unless you want to expand your trip into a brief vacation, you can book with Austrian Airlines (changing planes in Vienna), Turkish Airlines (via Istanbul) or Bulgaria Air (via Sofia).

Last time we searched for direct flights to Varna, TUIfly and Sunexpress had some reasonably priced offers leaving on Friday 4th and going back on Sunday 6th. Please check swiftly if these options are still available, as direct flights to Varna get booked out quickly for the high season.

Otherwise, from here as well, there are connecting flights with Austrian Airlines, Turkish Airlines or Bulgaria Air.

Similar to the options described for Cologne, TUIfly and Sunexpress offer direct flights from Düsseldorf to Varna on Friday, 4th August and back on Sunday, 6th August. Please check if these offers are still available.

Otherwise you can book connecting flights through Austrian Airlines, Turkish Airlines or Bulgaria Air.

Wizz Air offers direct flights from Dortmund to Varna, leaving on Friday, 4th August and going back on Monday, 7th August.

TUIfly and Sunexpress offer direct flights from Hamburg to Varna on Thursday, 3rd August and going back either on Sunday in the crack of dawn (at 04h50) or at a more reasonable time on Tuesday.

Otherwise you can book connecting flights through Austrian Airlines, Turkish Airlines or Bulgaria Air.

Travelling from Benelux:

Eindhoven (130km from Brussels, 120km from Düsseldorf)
Wizz Air flies direct to Varna on Thursday afternoon, returning Sunday afternoon. Prices are currently good.

TUIfly offers direct flights to Varna either on Thursday, 3rd August or on Friday (in the crack of dawn – 06h00!?) from Oostende-Brugge and back on Monday, 7th August to Oostende-Brugge. As these might not be the most convenient options, we hope you can find better solutions, with connecting flights through Austrian Airlines, Turkish Airlines or Bulgaria Air.

These options are just meant to offer you some orientation. Maybe you are smarter than us and you have a special website, we don’t know about.
